This week saw the launch of the MUA Make Up Academy range at Superdrug. A budget range where every product is only £1 :)
Finding a free postage code on my recent Superdrug till receipt I decided to place a little order of 8 items from the new range - well they came this afternoon :)
The first thing I ordered were two blushers - obviously they were a £1 each and you get 2.4g of product. The packaging is pretty basic black and clear plastic. The colours I got were Shade 3 (left) and Shade 1 (right)
Shade 3 is a brown /rose and shade 1 is a lovely pale bubblegum pink
I was really impressed with pigmentation of these blushes and the colours are really wearable.
The next thing I got were two eyeshadows - again black and clear plastic packaging containing 2g of product. The colours I got were Shade 1 (left) and Shade 4 (right).
Shade 1 is a gorgeous shimmery beige and shade 4 is a lovely shimmery lilac
Again I was super impressed with the pigmentation of these shadows - these were in the pearl finish and they were also super, super soft and velvety in texture.
I also got two lipsticks. The twist up bullets are very like NYX with the colour on the bottom of the tube - you get 3.8g of product for your £1.
The two shade I got were Shade 5 (left) and Shade 9 (right).
Shade 5 is a slightly frosty baby pink and shade 9 is a frosty rose shade
I have to say the two colours aren't that pigmented - they are quite sheer though shade 5 particularly so, but they would be good for applying on top of another colour for a glossier finish.
Finally I got two nail polishes again they are just £1 each. The bottles are quite small at only 6.2ml but this isn't always a bad thing. The colours I got were no. 5 (right) and no4 (left)
I've swatched them on paper so you can have a better look at the colours - no 5 is a proper turquoise green, so now and at the moment and no. 4 is a proper coral orange.
I'll do a proper review of the colours when I wear them on my nails but the turquoise is 2 coats and the coral is only 1.
Overall I am pretty impressed for a pound each definitely expect to see these items in some faces of the day and nails of the day posts to come. The lipsticks are my only real disappointment but for the price I don't suppose they are that bad :) The only thing I would say is if your ordering online it's pretty difficult to see the lipstick colours on the website No.9 didn't look how I expected it to but despite that it's my favourite colour of the two. What do you think of the range? Have you tried anything or do you have any recommendations?
(Just to add this takes me slightly over my spending limit and I've got a little blog sale purchase to add but hey ho I've done better than last month:)
i cant wait to go to superdrug tomorrow and pick up some goodies ... i hope there worth the hype .. if not its only a few quid wasted! cant wait for the swatches sweetie!
