The Body Shop Rainforest Haircare - A Couple of Reviews

Quite a while ago I purchased a couple of products from The Body Shop's new Rainforest Hair Collection. Formulated with a focus on natural ingredients the range is silicone, sulphate, colourant and paraben free. I've had a proper chance to use them so I thought I do a couple of reviews for you x

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Shampoo For Coloured Hair

The range includes 4 shampoos, Shine, Moisture, Balance and Radiance. I chose the Rainforest Radiance Shampoo for Coloured Hair. Designed to gently cleanse the hair and remove residue to promote longer lasting more vibrant hair colour. this shampoo contains lots of natural ingredients including the key ingredient and the inspiration for the range Pracaxi Oil. Found in the Amazonian Rainforest Pracaxi is a cold pressed oil that features on the highest concentration of Behenic Acid in a natural product, this sounds scary but basically it's a fatty acid which is often used in hair products and moisturisers for smoothing and hydrating. It also contains Bilberry which is a known antioxident, and Linseed Oil which is also a fatty acid often used for its moisturising properties.

The shampoo is packaged in an easy to use typical Body Shop flip top plastic bottle. The product itself is colourless and quite runny. The biggest plus point about this shampoo for me is the smell - it smells amazingly of berries so fruity, it reminds me of my grans bilberry pie - yum

This shampoo actually foams up remarkably well for a sulphate free shampoo, a little bit of water produces more of a creamy foam than lots of bubble but it's more than enough to clean your hair x

The shampoo rinses out easily and leave the hair delicately fragranced with bilberry :) I have to say both my and Mummy Lou really like this shampoo, it smells amazing and it's reasonably priced because you need so little. Would I purchase this again, I already have :) If this variant isn't for you there are 3 other shampoos in the Rainforest range depending on your hair type x The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Shampoo For Coloured Hair retails at £2.00, for a 60ml bottle, £4.00 for a 250ml bottle and £6.00 for a 400ml bottle.

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter

The Body Shop Rainforest range also features 4 hair conditioners that correspond to the shampoos, as well as a leave in conditioner, and an intensive treatment. I must admit I have a glut of hair conditioners, I always seem to use much more shampoo than conditioner, so I didn't got for the Radiance conditioner instead I went for the Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter For Dry Hair.

Described as a deep conditioning treatment for soft, glossy and tangle free hair the Hair Butter contains all sorts of yummy natural ingredients. Like the rest of the Rainforest range it contains Pracaxi Oil, for moisture and smoothness. It also includes Manketti Nut Oil - also now as the Mongongo Nut this oil is prized in Southern Africa not only for its nutritional benefits but also for its skin cleansing and moistursing properties. It also contains community trade honey.

Packaged in a plastic screw top tub - the butter itself has a rich creamy texture, and a sweet smell. Thankfully it doesn't smell too strongly of honey which I don't like

To use the product first of all I washed my hair, then I towel dried it and applied as instructed a couple of hazelnut sized blobs throughout my hair I did sometimes find I needed a little bit more but I guess it depends on the length of your hair - you really don't need very much though as it spreads really easily. Then I pop on a shower cap and leave it for at least 10 minutes while I have a bath or a shower.

What surprised me with this product is how quickly and easily it washed out - it really does wash out easily and it leaves the hair smooth and tangle free exactly as it promises.

I really love this hair butter it's rich but not heavy, it moisturises but it doesn't weigh your hair down, again I will definitely repurchase, but I have used this a least once a week for the last 2/3 months and I still have over half the jar left so it's very economical. The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter For Dry Hair retails at £3.00 for 50ml, and £8.00 for 200ml.

All in all I am really pleased that I purchased both of these products, they are a pleasure to use and feel and smell gorgeous on the hair. These specific variants may not be for you but there are different versions for different hair types, and you can also but the mini sizes to try or for travel. I am definitely going to try the Radiance Condtioner and the Radiance Detangling Spray next. Any questions please let me know x
