Hello Dolly - Brighten Up Your Day With Dollygirl Bespoke Felt Finery

I have to admit I love accessories be it a scarf, a piece of jewellery or a hair clip, they can really make the most of an otherwise dreary or old outfit. The trouble is there doesn't seem to be anything original out there at the moment, go out anywhere and you can pretty much guarantee that you'll see someone wearing the same necklace, the same shoes, or horror of horrors the same clothes, there just doesn't seem to be an individuality out there any more. In order to find something just that little bit different you have to look away from the high street and chain stores, and look for more quirky boutiques and of course online.

I was recently contacted by a lovely lady called Leanne, who wondered if I would like to receive a product for her etsy store to review. Always wanting to help out a fellow North East girl of course I agreed. Through her etsy store Dollygirl Bespoke Felt Finery and via email, Leanne produces the cutest and most unusual fabric flower brooches and hair clips. She uses only the best quality wool felt, high quality threads and vintage buttons to produce an item that is truly a one off. You can chose from a selection of pre-made items on her etsy store or you can order a custom made item, in the colours of your choice. Every item will have either a brooch fastening or a hair clip attachment or you can have both making it multi functional . After emailing her your preferences, Leanne will then cut out your flower and assemble it and sew it by hand. This can take a couple  of days because as well as being a busy mum , she also works full time but I really don't mind this as the product is of such a high standard

Leanne offered to send me a custom made flower, so I emailed her the colours that I liked and the fastenings that I preferred, and within a few day it arrived - the first thing I noticed was the packaging, it came in a beautiful handmade green felt pouch with a little lilac flower with a pale blue button centre on it - gorgeous and a great indicator of thing to come!

I was pretty flexible colour wise but I mentioned that I love blue and purple, so I wasn't disappointed when my flower arrived

On a pale blue felt background, it features a darker felt blue layer with purple a felt layer, and a lime green felt centre. It also featuring lots of different stitch detailing in pale pink, purple and blue, and finally in the centre in features a pale blue button which was bought from a vintage store in North Yorkshire

The layers of stitching and fabric give these clips a real dimension, so they'll really stand out whether on a coat, or in the hair. I was greedy of course and asked for both clips on my flower. As you can see there really well stitched on with both felt and thread keeping them in place

I have to say I really love my flower, I think it will look great either on a plain coat or a plain scarf, or to give a boring white shirt a lift, and whilst I don't think they will be for everyone as a hair accessory, I can definitely see me wearing this to hold my fringe back in the summer, and can you imagine one of these in a little girls hair, so cute. My minds running riot actually I'm picturing these pinned all over a cushion for a funky look - in fact your only limitation is your own imagination. With prices starting from £10 these probably aren't the cheapest accessory out there, but what you are getting is something completely unique, that's been made entirely by hand - it's obvious just by looking at out how much work, care, and thought has gone into producing your very own piece of artwork. I think they would make a great gift either for Mother's Day, Easter or any other occasion x
