A Spring Like Manicure For A Grey Day Courtesy Of Make Up Revolution - Adore

The day may have been dark and grey but in contrast to the weather I decided to go for a more, brighter, spring like nails of the day.

Adore is the first nail polish that I've tried from Make Up Revolution and I have to say I have mixed feelings about it.

First of all the plus points, and number one has to be the colour! It's a gorgeous dusky, creamy lilac that I literally adore. I love shades like this and I've lost count of how many that I have in my collection, and yet I still keep buying more. Another plus point is the price, Make Up Revolution polishes retail at just £1 for 10ml of product, amazing, and in this case I'm pretty pleased that was all I paid.

Why? well the brush wasn't the best. I really hope that this was a one off but it seemed very fibrous, with lots of flayed bristles, so you just couldn't help leaving brush strokes in the polish. Thankfully the formula was pretty self levelling so it wasn't too obvious but it was annoying particular on the first coat which looked really streaky, so you definitely needed two for a perfect finish.

The polish formula itself was pretty thick and quite viscous, so it did take quite a while to dry, and because of how thick the final manicure turned out I got my first chip after less than 6 hours. Obviously this could be improved with a good top coat but it was still disappointing.

This is my first real disappointment from Make Up Revolution and I'm really hoping that it's just a one off. I love the colour and how it looks on my nails but the slightly dodgy brush and formulation means that I just can't recommend it or love it as much I wanted too. For just a £1 it certainly won't put me off buying more but I can't help feeling a little bit sad. You can buy Make Up Revolution polishes from Superdrug and from their own website. Have you tried any Make Up Revolution nail polishes yet? Let me know your thoughts x

P.S. If you're a Make Up Revolution fan, then you"may" need to read this coming Sunday's post ;)

  1. This is such a pretty shade. It's a shame the formulation wasn't as impressive!
